Détails: After thirty years of being in an unhealthy relationship and marriage, Ruth Gold decided that she had had enough. She went through many years of ups and downs with her husband regarding hope, love, religious beliefs, and having children. Despite all the challenges she endured, she stayed in the marriage until she gained the strength to pick herself up and leave. Ruth Gold hopes that by sharing her testimony, she will encourage women of all ages who are dealing with the same kinds of problems to be able to seek a relationship with God, who will lead and direct them in living a happier and healthier life. In Finding Me in the Midst of It All, Ruth Gold discusses about choosing the wrong mate, settling for a relationship despite what you know or find out, surviving adulterous affairs and children born from those affairs, breaking the cycle of repeated affairs, feeling as if you are trapped with no way out, and most of all, establishing a relationship with God and following his voice instead of a man’s.

Détails: In presenting to the public the Memoirs of Queen Hortense exactly as she recorded them, in exposing it to scholars—with an intrinsic and absolute respect for the integral historical accuracy of the text—these intimate revelations as set down by her royal hand, Prince Napoleon did a service not only to history but also to the memory of a princess too often harshly criticized eminently French in her heart and mind, to the memory of an unfortunate Queen, to the memory of an exquisite woman. Like the Emperor, one of whose shadows she was and whose touching and affectionate farewell smile she received as he was leaving France for the last time, the Queen of Holland has nothing to lose by having all her acts and even her mistakes fully revealed. This becomes very clear as one peruses these volumes where she took care not to avoid any of the difficulties of her task. She knew what society said about her; she was aware of the reproaches, justified and unjustified, of which she was the object. Frequently, reading between the lines one is conscious of the care her pen took to refute certain implications, sometimes with disdain but never without courage.

Détails: New York Times and worldwide bestselling author Isabel Allende returns with a sweeping novel that journeys from present-day Brooklyn to Guatemala in the recent past to 1970s Chile and Brazil that offers “a timely message about immigration and the meaning of home” (People). During the biggest Brooklyn snowstorm in living memory, Richard Bowmaster, a lonely university professor in his sixties, hits the car of Evelyn Ortega, a young undocumented immigrant from Guatemala, and what at first seems an inconvenience takes a more serious turn when Evelyn comes to his house, seeking help. At a loss, the professor asks his tenant, Lucia Maraz, a fellow academic from Chile, for her advice. As these three lives intertwine, each will discover truths about how they have been shaped by the tragedies they witnessed, and Richard and Lucia will find unexpected, long overdue love. Allende returns here to themes that have propelled some of her finest work: political injustice, the art of survival, and the essential nature of—and our need for—love.

Détails: According to the savvy African Scientist by the name of Cheikh Anta Diop, the true cause of Socrates’ death was the fact that he brought and introduced new ideas (from a foreign country) to the society in which he was living.(conference in LOME, Africa). Another wise African Scientist who was at the time living in France, once said: “Opening myself to others, Paris has opened me to the true knowledge of myself.” Leopold Sedar Senghor. (from a book read in the secondary school, in the DR Congo, 1976-79). In this book, SPIRITUAL GROWTH IN THE MIDST OF CHALLENGES: a positive answer to a destructive disposition, the author is trying to explain that each society creates its barriers. With its cultures and beliefs, societies have developed Barriers; such as: - unableling someone financially by refusing to hire her/him for the work he /she qualified for; or which she/he deserves and systematically putting him/her down; - assassinating one’s character by labeling him /her as a mental health sufferer because of his/her courage of not being afraid to speak the truth and to bring it forward to the public; - preventing him/her to generate good income in order to live a decent and prosper life; - Breaking his /her spirit by refusing his /her work and therefore, destroying all her/his credibility and efforts to evolve; Those barriers are implemented to allow or to limit certain people from becoming successful in a given society. These calculated bad intentions are put in place and carried on to make someone become sick or just to harm. What the author is really trying to say is that when a person lacks supports ( i.e, financial, emotional, and social), he or she is already dead. This attitude proceed from the society that does not promote gifts, talents and abilities of someone prominent and promising because of the color of his/her skin, the origin, the religion or the difference in reasoning. Isn’t true that anything that waste potential or potentiality is Evil?

Also, America's ignoble past, and her own regrets. She is surrounded by dead lakes, fake facts, Open Carry maniacs, and oodles of online advice about survivalism, veil toss duties, and how to be more like Jane Fonda. But what do you do when you keep stepping on your son's toy tractors, your life depends on stolen land and broken treaties, and nobody helps you when you get a flat tire on the interstate, not even the Abominable Snowman? When are you allowed to start swearing? With a torrent of consciousness and an intoxicating coziness, Ducks, Newburyport lays out a whole world for you to tramp around in, by turns frightening and funny. A heart-rending indictment of America's barbarity, and a lament for the way we are blundering into environmental disaster, this book is both heresy—and a revolution in the novel.

Détails: “Ema, give me your hand.” These were the words Jesus spoke to Ema on Christmas Eve before He straightened her crooked foot, hand, neck, and spine, and restored her mobility. Easter weekend, eighteen years earlier, an ordinary workday turned into a nightmare when Ema McKinley passed out and was left hanging upside down in the storage room. Rather than improving, Ema’s body became progressively bent and disfigured. Doctors diagnosed Ema with reflex sympathetic dystrophy (RSD), an extremely painful trauma-induced disease which led to Ema’s hand and foot deformities, painful sores, insomnia, gastrological distress, curvature of the neck and spine, heart and lung failure, and permanent confinement to a wheelchair. Once an athletic, powerhouse woman with multiple jobs and volunteer positions, Ema became a modern-day Job who lost everything except her faith and desire to trust God more fully. Ema wrestled with pain, anger, and unforgiveness, but now takes the reader on a healing miracle encounter of Biblical proportions. Rush of Heaven will ignite readers’ passion for Jesus and help them walk hand-in-hand with Him through life’s darkness. It will open hearts to embrace the impossible. “Jesus gave me this miracle for you too!” — Ema McKinley

Détails: What if political rhetoric is unavoidable, an irreducible part of politics itself? In contrast to the familiar denunciations of political horse-trading, grandstanding, and corporate manipulation from those lamenting the crisis in liberal democracy, this book argues that the “politics of politics,” usually associated with rhetoric and sophistry, is, like it or not, part of politics from the start. Denunciations of the sorry state of current politics draw on a dogmatism and moralism that share an essentially metaphysical and Platonic ground. Failure to deconstruct that ground generates a philosophically and politically debilitating selfrighteousness that this book attempts to understand and undermine. After a detailed analysis of Foucault’s influential late concept of parrhesia, which is shown to be both philosophically and politically insufficient, close readings of Heidegger, Kierkegaard, and Derrida trace complex relations between sophistry, rhetoric, and philosophy; truth and untruth; decision; madness and stupidity in an exploration of the possibility of developing an affirmative thinking of politics that is not mortgaged to the metaphysics of presence. It is suggested that Heidegger’s complex accounts of truth and decision must indeed be read in close conjunction with his notorious Nazi commitments but nevertheless contain essential insights that many strident responses to those commitments ignore or repress. Those insights are here developed—via an ambitious account of Derrida’s often misunderstood interruption of teleology—into a deconstructive retrieval of the concept of dignity. This lucid and often witty account of a crucial set of developments in twentieth-century thought prepares the way for a more general re-reading of the possibilities of political philosophy that will be undertaken in Volume 2 of this work, under the sign of an essential scatter that defines the political as such.
